Charter Nite Celebration

At last the most awaited day for our club arrived, the 1st October 2010 the grand celebration of Charter Nite Ceremony. The event led by our dynamic president Farida Dias with her team gave jitters to the club officers from the district. Yes! the District Governor DTM Nagaraj Rao, Division Governor DTM Prasad Sovani and the Area Governor Col.Sabari Girish Kanjully were at our Venue VIVANTA by TAJ, Panjim. The CCP (Corporation of City of Panjim) Commissioner Mr.Elvis Gomes was the Chief Guest for the event and he spoke very well. His humorous speech "I wondered how many marriages will these Toastmasters will get per month to earn a living and I realised TOASTMASTERS don't mean verbally and this elite club throughout the world is engaged in training people to gauge their tongue" was well received by audience. Then, the president of YMCA Panjim Mr.P.M.Vaz released the souvenir of the club amidst huge applause.

After the applause the real Toastmasters meeting started off with TM Basil D'Cunha and TM Dan Jog gave their Project Speeches followed by a nice mix of Table Topics of Duet, Gibberish, Positive-Negative etc., which made the audience to sit erect. The most interesting thing of the event was the Ice-breaker speeches by SMS Dynamos (Sharada Mandir School Gavel Club) members Sapna Nayak and Rohan Saxena followed the Story Telling Table Topic by other members of the club. After all the speeches, the District Governor handed over the Charter Certificate to the President of the Club TM Farida D'Silva Dias. The Executive Committee of the club viz. Vice President(Education)TM Akbar Khan, Vice President(Public Relations)TM Adolph Castellino, Vice President(Membership)TM Sharmila Rao, Secretary TM Kailash Kattalay, Treasurer TM Millie Alvares, Sergent-at-arms TM Laura Alvares were inducted into office by Division Governor DTM Prasad Sovani. The newest members of the club were inducted by Area Governor TM Sabari Girish.

Once the official function is over, guests were served hot snacks followed by Dinner. The scintillating experience was the Music Program given by Dr.Varun who made people to loose their feet and be themselves for almost 2 hours. We had to wind-up the party since the next morning (2nd October) was a dry day and all our members, guests and dignitaries went home half heartened. This day of 1st October 2010 is an unforgettable day for the members of our club and can be cherished forever in life.
